Weather: Wind & Rain Widgets

The hours ahead

Temperature, rain, wind and gusts are easier to read when they share a timeline. Weather Pro brings them into an hourly table, with a daily overview for finding the part of the forecast you want to explore.

The app is in development for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. The website introduces its current scope; public download details will appear in the changelog when a release is available.

One view, useful detail

Browse the hours while the weather-row labels stay visible. Choose a one-hour interval for detail or a three-hour interval for a wider view of the day. Daily cards provide an overview where the underlying forecast data supports it.

Temperature is one part of the picture. Precipitation, wind speed and gusts help explain how the same part of the day may feel different outdoors. Additional app fields include feels like, rain chance, wind direction, cloud cover, humidity and pressure.

Precipitation amounts describe the period ending at each forecast hour. A three-hour amount is not a promise about an exact minute of rain. The forecast guide explains the periods, missing values and daily summaries.

Your places and preferences

Keep the places you return to: a saved city, a destination found through search or a named point entered with coordinates. Use Current Location when you want it; manual places remain available when location access is declined.

Choose Celsius or Fahrenheit, your preferred wind unit, millimetres or inches for precipitation, and the pressure unit you use. Select the app’s weather rows and decide whether its daily overview and quick forecast controls appear.

A forecast belongs to its selected place. Its dates and hours follow that place’s time zone, which matters when looking ahead to a trip or checking another city.

A choice of forecast models

Weather Pro offers ECMWF IFS 9 km, ECMWF IFS 0.25°, DWD ICON and NOAA GFS through Open-Meteo. Switch models while keeping the place and period the same to see another forecast perspective.

Different models can return different values and forecast horizons. Choosing a model does not guarantee an outcome; the model comparison guide explains how to make the comparison useful.

Across your devices

The development targets are iPhone and iPad on iOS or iPadOS 16 and later, Mac on macOS 13 and later, and Apple Watch on watchOS 9 and later. Available widget families and configuration depend on the platform and system version.

Widgets bring a compact forecast to supported Home Screen, Lock Screen, desktop and watch surfaces. On systems with independent configuration, give each instance its own place, model, interval and units. Mac widgets are configured independently of the Mac app.

The Watch app can download its forecast independently when connected. Compatible complications provide a smaller view on the wrist. The operating system controls widget and complication refresh scheduling; these surfaces are not continuous live readings.

Location by choice

Forecast requests go directly to Open-Meteo and include the coordinates of the selected place. City searches use Open-Meteo’s geocoding service. Device location is requested only when you choose Current Location.

The app contains no advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs. Read the privacy policy for the request recipients and the distinction between a saved point and device location.

In development

The initial scope is hourly weather, daily summaries and widgets. Radar, maps, minute-by-minute nowcasting and rain push notifications are outside that scope. Fresh forecasts require a network connection.
